MMLG Clients Awarded Two City of Commerce Development Agreements

Happy Friday. It’s been a busy week at the 1100 Glendon offices. Two clients of MMLG received separate development agreements from the City of Commerce this week. Both development agreement applications were submitted earlier in November and, as has become the norm for municipalities, were subject to a competitive scoring system. Impressively, MMLG’s clients scored very highly on experience, base of knowledge and community welfare.

A development agreement works similarly to a contract, but it does differ in a significant sense in that it affords a municipality a large degree of flexibility in determining development projects on a case-by-case basis.

For MMLG’s clients, one a publicly-traded company on the Canadian stock exchange, and the other, an established Los Angeles operator, the approval is testament to their quality of work and business operation, in addition to making clear City of Commerce’s concrete expectation for the best applicants.

“City’s can absolutely afford to be choosy about who they want to do business in their backyards. I am thrilled for both of our clients that City of Commerce has chosen to award them these development agreements after a rigorous scoring and analysis process,” said Aaron Lachant, CEO of MMLG.

“The competitive cannabis landscape is driving applicants and would-be businesses to have far more polished applications. Similar to college applications or a job search, the cities have the right of refusal and are seeking out only the best applicants that truly stand out from the pack. This is a great benefit to the plant-touching industry in that forces all of us to deliver exceptional work, and it benefits the communities that these companies call home,” Lachant concluded.
