October 2018: O Canada! Great White North Legalizes Weed

In arguably the biggest cannabis news for 2018, Canada fully legalized cannabis in October. The move has led Canada to become the worldwide leader in cannabis. From investors to job-seekers to research scientists, Canada’s legalization has been nothing short of a paradigm shift for the plant-touching world. This move will have ramifications down the road that we cannot even see. For now? The United States and other nations need to get moving on cannabis legalization, or risk falling too far behind Canada.

October 2018: Metrc Gets $50 Million In Investment From Snoop and Tiger Global

The Doggfather’s canna-specific investment firm betting on your company is big enough. But when Snoop and Tiger Global invest? You’re on to something big. Metrc is doing something big and we suspect that this investment is a sign of things to come for ancillary companies and investment opportunities.

November 2018: California’s BCC Released The First Annual Commercial Licenses

This was quietly one of the biggest developments in national cannabis news this year. California issuing annual licenses means METRC is moving forward and that means a radically transparent and trackable supply system. Massachusetts is also onboard with METRC. November 2018: Election Day Was a Big Win For Legalization

Michigan went completely legal, Utah and Missouri approved versions of medical marijuana bills. Election Day 2018 may well be remembered as the turning point in public opinion on legalization.

November 2018: Massachusetts Opens Retail Locations

Following legalization in July, Massachusetts opened its first two retail locations in November. Both stores have seen robust sales in the opening few weeks.
