State Agencies Announce New Cannabis Regulations, Digital Delivery Platforms Face Uncertainty

California’s Bureau of Cannabis Control, Department of Public Health and the Department of Food and Agriculture have released their latest proposed regulations following the public hearing sessions that concluded on August 27 of this year. The latest proposed regulations, viewable here, will now undergo a 15-day public hearing that starts today. Much like how we hosted a workshop in advance of the public hearing sessions over the summer, we’re hosting a new one to address the potential changes with these proposed regulations. Our free workshop will be on Wednesday, 10/24, from 11:00-1:00 at our new office. Register here. Our CEO, Aaron Lachant, and director of compliance, Dr. Juli Crockett, will both be on hand to field your questions and concerns.

We get it, though, if you’re too excited by the prospects of discussing what all of this means for cannabis compliance, licensing and investment to wait until the workshop, you’re in luck:  Dr. Juli Crockett, when pressed on what the new proposals would mean for businesses, emailed us a priceless response:

The regulating of [redatced] is a [bleepin’] bomb drop! :-O

Dr. Juli expanded on these thoughts with the good people over at MJ Biz Daily in an article that is absolutely worth your time to read.

TL;DR: Third party tech platforms such as Eaze and Weedmaps –who, well, Weedmaps was warned months ago– are facing a suddenly extremely interesting future; delivery vehicles, instead of $10,000 in product, would only carry up to $5,000; licensed plant-touching businesses will have to reveal all investors, no more silent partners; and much, much more.

Again, the entire article is worth your time. Also worth your time? Our free workshop on these proposed new regulations this coming Wednesday, 10/24. Do yourself a favor too and sign-up now (these things have a history of filling up fast!)
